The soul and the motor of the region. The passion and the landscape of the Priorat. Wine, the inseparable brew of these wild and slimy lands, is the main protagonist of this TripIdea. Do you join the wine culture of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast)?

The first weekend of May, in Falset, the Fira del Vi (Wine Fair) is held, which brings together the Montsant and the Priorat Denomination of Origin. From 11h to 21h, sixty wineries present their wines and cavas. Your mission is to get tickets and try the most diverse varieties of wine and cava, as well as other local products such as cheeses and sausages.

In addition, children from 5 to 12 years can participate in the 'Fira dels Petits' (Kids´ Fair), a stage with workshops for children to become distracted while they make a paper coaster, or simulate a bunch of grapes with cardboard and wood. The most artistic children can also participate in the large mural set in the theme of the strain. Go on and paint!

A DAY IN THE COOPERATIBE WINERIES

The Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) of the interior is the cradle of cooperativism in Spain. Here is the first winery that drove this formula of agrarian work organization that has survived until today. Every Holy Saturday, in the middle of the Easter Week, in Falset they dedicate a whole day to the cooperatives of the region with a fair. A dozen cooperatives exhibit their novelties and offer a tasting to visitors. You cannot miss the traditional bread snack with oil, salt or bread with wine and sugar.

CASTELL DEL VI´, THE WINE CASTLE IN FALSET

Crowning a hill overlooking the town of Falset, lies the castle of the Counts of Prades, a fortress that houses a wine interpretation center. The interactive games and audiovisuals of the Castell del Vi (Wine Castle) prepare the context for children and adults. The history of the winemaking of these lands is closely linked to the abrupt orography and the idiosyncrasy of the native people. With a spectacular video it is possible to see the terraces of vineyards and the beautiful villages of the Priorat region. And you will know the slate, the stone that gives personality to the wines that are born in this region.
