JOAN MIRÓ, THE GENIUS IN MONT-ROIG

There is a very simple argument for visiting Mont-roig del Camp: the place was home to Joan Miró and its name is closely linked to its streets. For this reason, Mont-roig is one of the stops on the route Paisaje de los Genios - the Landscape of Geniuses - which also visits other places of the Costa Daurada and the Tierras del Ebro region.

Joan Miró arrived in Mont-roig in 1911 after a depression. Since that year, the artist has always wanted to keep his relationship with the village alive, and a fruit of the carob tree hidden in his pocket always reminded him of this unique land and landscape, which you can now discover in Mas Miró.

The visit of Mas Miró will take you to the interior of the finca where Miró spent long periods of time immortalized in his work "La Masía". The picture hangs today in the National Gallery in Washington. You can also visit the painter's workshop, the chicken coop or the garden.

The excursion to Mas Miró is a wonderful way to immerse you in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean on Pixerota beach. The beach is 2 km away from the Mas Miró, and the artist loved to swim here and lie in the sun.
