One single municipality and so many things to do ... It seems that the secret of Mont-roig del Camp, one of the essential destinations of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast), begins to be known by the public. And this is for good reasons! In this TripIdea we settle in this village of the Baix Camp region and put at your fingertips an overdose of attractions.
It starts near the sea. Mont-roig del Camp and the heart Miami Platja are part of the so-called Nautical Station of the Costa Daurada, which runs from Salou to L'Ametlla de Mar. A nautical station is a recreational area that organizes activities related to water.
In the case of the municipality of Mont-roig the offer can be summarized in data: 12 kilometers of coast with 4 beaches, 9 coves, and with the possibility of practicing 15 nautical sports. In Miami Platja you can do 'parasailing' - touring the coast on a parachute dragged by a motorboat - or take a jet skiing tour - a powerful watercraft - or enjoy a quiet walk along the coast on board of a kayak. In summer it is recommended to book the activities in advance so as not to have surprises.
JOAN MIRÓ, THE GENIUS IN MONT-ROIG
There is a very simple argument for visiting Mont-roig del Camp: the place was home to Joan Miró and its name is closely linked to its streets. For this reason, Mont-roig is one of the stops on the route Paisaje de los Genios - the Landscape of Geniuses - which also visits other places of the Costa Daurada and the Tierras del Ebro region.
Joan Miró arrived in Mont-roig in 1911 after a depression. Since that year, the artist has always wanted to keep his relationship with the village alive, and a fruit of the carob tree hidden in his pocket always reminded him of this unique land and landscape, which you can now discover in Mas Miró.
The visit of Mas Miró will take you to the interior of the finca where Miró spent long periods of time immortalized in his work "La Masía". The picture hangs today in the National Gallery in Washington. You can also visit the painter's workshop, the chicken coop or the garden.
The excursion to Mas Miró is a wonderful way to immerse you in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean on Pixerota beach. The beach is 2 km away from the Mas Miró, and the artist loved to swim here and lie in the sun.
SOME OCTOPUS NOTES ON YOUR DISH
During the first half of June, the restaurants of Mont-roig and Miami Platja add a touch of octopus to their culinary creations. At the Octopus Gastronomic Days you can try the delicacies made with this esteemed cephalopod so present on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) at reduced prices. Do you fancy an octopus toast with allioli, caramelized onion and garlic? An octopus Thai wok? In addition, with the new Tapapop you can tour the restaurants of the municipality tasting the octopus in the form of a tapa. And if you take three tapas in different establishments, you get a prize!
