Wineries and Wine Routes CATALONIA D.O.

More than 2,000 years of viticulture in Catalonia have given rise to a wide range of traditional varieties that, together with the varieties introduced throughout history, produce wines of very high quality. Almost 50,000 hectares of wine-growing area in more than 300 municipalities. In total, the Catalonia D.O. has 35 varieties of grapes authorized to elaborate wines. The best white wine are made with chardonnay, chenin, white garnacha, macabeu or xarel-lo, and the best red wines with cabernet sauvignon, black garnacha, pinot noir or syrah.

DO Catalunya

The territory encompassing the DO (Designation of Origin) Catalunya is as wide-ranging as the varieties of grape grown in it. Thirty-six different types transmit the essence of a land in which the sparse rainfall produces grapes that are the soul of very Mediterranean wines.
