World Heritage Dry Stone

The limestone and sparse vegetation are some of the characteristics of the rural environment on the shores of the Mediterranean. And the stone is the basis for the constructions that you will find in various villages of the Costa Daurada. These are buildings that have a common denominator: the stones hold together without mortar or any other material. Hence the name "Piedra seca" (dry stone).
How was this achieved? Well, you can discover this by visiting the area where the terraces, the banks, the vineyard huts or the walls form an exceptional rural landscape.  Now UNESCO has also protected these unique buildings as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
