PRADES

The Siurana, Brugent and Glorieta rivers have cut over the centuries the orography of these mountains with great natural appeal. Get going and sign up with this TripIdea to discover with your Kids the heritage of the Prades Mountains. They are certified as a Family Tourism destination and this means that everything is much easier if you want to make a visit with children.

The red city is a good starting point for this exit. This is how the town of Prades, is known, because of the omnipresent color in the stone constructions of this municipality of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). Walk down the narrow alleys and reach the porticoed square of the villa, where you will find a unique Renaissance fountain at the foot of a majestic church. There are companies that organize summer competitions in to discover Prades with the family and in a very entertaining way. You will divide into two groups and you will have to solve some unknown topics to win this  didáctic competition.

If you want to do a short excursión, the most indicated and beautiful is the one of the Ermita de la Abellera, about 2 kilometers from the municipality. The building, dating from 1570, is embedded in a stone cliff taking advantage of a natural cave. From its sides the views of these valleys - the closest is the Brugent river valley - are to remain abstracted for a long time.

MUSSARA, THE UNOCCUPIED VILLAGE

To look for another exceptional viewpoint, you have to go up to La Mussara. It is an uninhabited village  - with all its magnetism intact - located 990 meters high near the Airasses cliffs. On a clear day you can see the Ebro Delta and the Balearic Islands from here. La Mussara is the starting point of many excursions through the most beautiful corners of the Prades mountains.

More things you cannot miss? Prades potatoes and honey from these lands. If you do not have a chance to try them out here, take them home. And the bread from the medieval oven of Capafonts, a city that is also worth visiting. If you are visitng the región on a hot day, this TripIdea will save you from high temperatures. You will find the best natural pools hidden in the course of the three rivers.

BIKING ROUTE THROUGH THE ALT AND BAIX CAMP REGIONS

Alcover, Valls or even Cambrils - a destination specialized in cycling tourism - are a perfect base camp for exploring the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) on a road bike. If you are looking for a winding road with a good gradient to overcome, we suggest a route `leg breaking´ tour: from Vilaplana up to La Febró, and then to Capafonts, La Cadeneta and Mont-rai. The road is in excellent condition and is a great way to see the landscape of the Prades Mountains with pedals anchored at the feet.

Of course you can travel the attractions highlighted in this Tripidea on a cycle route. Or add other attractions of the Alt and Baix Camp to take aim and take a strong grip on the handlebars: the modernist winery of Nulles Poblet and Santes Creus monasteries, the Sanctuary of Mare de Déu Montserrat de Montferri, the Escornalbou Castle - Monastery of, Pratdip and the incomparable city of Mont-roig del Camp.

You have work ahead; do you have you already set the speedometer to zero?
