MONTBLANC

The story of Joan Amades places the famous legend of Sant Jordi the capital of the Conca de Barberà region.

The noble knight could have killed the dragon at the gates of this beautiful walled city and perhaps that is why Sant Jordi gives his name to one of the four portals of the town. With this background it is not surprising that a passionate and multitudinous group of Montblanc neighbors celebrate each year the  Medieval Week of the legend of Sant Jordi, among thousands of visitors from all over.

As a central act of the festival a very careful representation of the legend is celebrated. It is performed with such fidelity that you must pinch yourself to confirm that you are not in a dream. The royal court presides over the feast, while the town dances medieval dances and the nobiliary houses present the spectacular flag dance. Surely you have time to sign up to do some of the roles of the representation: the organizers welcome volunteer actors. It is never too late to learn how to handle the rhythms of the 15th century on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast)!

WINES AND CAVAS OF THE CONCA DE BARBERÁ D.O.

Coinciding with the Medieval Week, the products of the wineries of the Conca de Barberà are presented in Montblanc. And it was at the beginning of the Middle Ages when the Cistercian monks of Poblet and the Templars of Barberà transmitted to the farmers of the area the knowledge to grow grapes and extract the best products. The tradition has continued until now, and it is well known that in Barberà de la Conca the first cooperative winery of the whole state was established.

This story is inside every bottle you can admire at the Conca de Barberà Wine and Cavas with Denomination of Show..

The star of this sample of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) is undoubtedly the trepat, the native grape variety of these lands. It gives light and fruity wines, and is the basis of very particular rosés and cavas. Increasingly, red wines and some well-known white wines are also being produced. Do not think about it any more, raise the glass and ... cheers!
