Route description

Walking and relaxing is one of our favourite activities! We propose a route through the Baix Camp region you will love for sure. It runs from the dam of Riudecanyes dam, through Duesaigües, and the ascent to Castell d’Escornalbou, from where we can see fabulous views onto the whole region. We leave the village of Riudecanyes, following the PR Trail passing the dam, which we will soon leave on the left side of a street in the Riudecanyes urbanization. Before reaching the road, take the parh to Vilamanya on the right. Once at the top, we will go down the road to take the road to the Before reaching the road, take the road to Vilamanya on the right. Once at the top, we will go down the road to take the road to d'Escornalbou Castle in Vilanova. We will cross the village and we will leave by the road until taking the road to Mont-roig del Camp. From here, we will continue to l'Arbocet. In this village the two watch towers stand out, one round, traditionally related to the Christians, and the other, squared, with the Saracens. We will leave the village along the livestock road heading towards Montbrió del Camp, which we will leave once crossing the Riudecanyes river, going northwards. We will return to Riudecanyes along the mills trails, equipped with interpretive panels that will allow us to recognize the flour, rice and sulphur mills in the village.

Points of interest:  The d'Escornalbou Castle introduces us to a time when the wealthy citizens remodelled historic buildings to turn them into their residences. Thus, in 1911, Eduard Toda bought the old Sant Miquel d'Escornalbou monastery and restored it with complete freedom, making it his castle. The site cannot be visited freely; it is worthwhile to learn about the scheduled guided routes, as there are usually interesting ideas that include some activities and games for kinds to experience history in a more and entertaining way.

Do you want to enjoy one of the best sunsets of your life? We recommend that you contemplate the moment when the day gives way night from the top of this mountain. Recently, cultural meetings and wine tastings are being organized, such as those prepared by the  Santa Teca collective, which aims to revalue proximity areas and with a modern and cosmopolitan air. 

Flour mills

What do you think about knowing the history of the Riudecanyes flour mills? Indications in the  outskirts of the village will lead you to the `Molí de la Vila´  (The village´s mill) From there, you can start a tour that will show you the importance of water for the operation of the mills.

Views from the Mare de Déu de la Roca hermitage

You can stop at the Ermita de la Mare de Déu de la Roca from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). You can take advantage of Mas Miró, where the work of Joan Miró was conceived and the place where the artist painted one of his more universal paintings, `La Masia´. Here you can recover strength with a good meal, as well as witness a fantastic sunset.
