REUS

The circus arts take the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) for three days in May. Music, dance, acrobatics, juggling, theater, humor ... shake hands and plant their tent in Reus to be exhibited at the main Circus Festival of Catalonia, the Trapezi, a festival that has been awarded with the National Award of the Catalonian Government abd the National Award of the Ministry of Culture. You will find artists from all over the world showing their creations to the audience of Reus and thousands of visitors. On the street, they present short pieces in different areas that also serve as a rehearsal and to outline details of the shows. Canadian, Norwegian, French, Brazilian, Argentinean and of course Spanish and Catalan companies come to Reus to act at the meeting point for circus lovers.

A CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS

It is a circus understood from the contemporary perspective, as scenic art capable of integrating all the artistic disciplines and generate great emotions to the public. You will laugh, you will cry, you will open your eyes like plates and you will adore the circus like you have never done!

In the Trapezi there are also activities and workshops to penetrate into the world of circus. Colloquiums with artistic equipment of the shows, debates after the function with critics and journalists or courses on acrobatics for those interested in the corporal expression.

REUS AND GAUDÍ: THE CITY AND ITS GENIUS

'El Paisatge dels Genis' (The Landscpae of Geniuses) is a tourist proposal that unites several cities of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) and the Tierras del Ebro region with its universal artists: Joan Miró in Mont-roig, Pau Casals in El Vendrell, Pablo Picasso in Horta de Sant Joan and Antoni Gaudí in Reus.

The name of the genius of modernism is inseparable from the capital of Baix Camp region. Ask for a map of the Gaudí & Reus Route at the tourist office and follow the trail of the most universal Catalan through his hometown. And of course you can not miss the Gaudí Centre, an area entirely dedicated to his work and modernism. Recently, a new area has been released with a multisensory experience to know how you could never have imagined the legacy of Gaudí and other architects like Domènech and Montaner. Casa Navàs and the Pere Mata Intitute will fascinate you and you have them very close to the museum. You can follow the Gaudí trail to his family home in Riudoms which has guided tours or getaways to the church of Jesús y María in Tarragona, with a façade of Ignasi Jordá and a chapel of Antoni Gaudí.

EATING THE MARKET

A gastronomic proposal is missing to make a spring visit to Reus in a complete experience. 'Menja't the Mercat' (Eat the Market) is a festival worthy of the most restless foodies. On the last Friday in May opens the Central Market of the city from 6 in the evening until well into the night and sellers offer their products cooked in a `tapa´ (small portions) format and at affordable prices.

So wake up the appetite and ... run: the `tapas´ are eaten up. And open your ears, bacuse the `tapas night´ also has musical groups to accompany the tasting.
