JOURNEY IN THE TIME WITH THE TARRACO TALGO

TARRAGONA

You enter the tunnel of time and you appear in the Estación de Francia railway station of Barcelona. You are in the 60's, when the country is just beginning to recover its pulse after a very long post-war period. You have a ticket for a radiant train that everyone talks about in the city, the Talgo, the most innovative railway of the moment. The train today goes to Tarragona, on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). Hurry up, the stationmaster has already blown the whistle!
From May to October, Tarraco Talgo, this original proposal of vintage tourism, leaves every Saturday with the purpose of taking travelers to one of the most monumental cities in Catalonia. But the experience, apart from the destination, is also valid for the journey. The interior and exterior of this Talgo III RD makes you go back fifty years in time

AN ESPRESSO OF THE 60ES IN THE TARRACO TALGO

You will recognize its classic metallic chassis with a red stripe in the middle. And inside, you'll be amazed by the size of the seats with armrests, beige curtains pasted with Velcro and a vintage cafeteria in case you want to take an espresso – an espresso of the 60's, of course. Even the music sounds a mix - we do not know if with a tape - with the best revival of the 60s and 70s hits. Leave the iPod in the backpack and live the journey as it was lived in the old times.

The Tarraco Talgo leaves on Saturdays around 10:00 am of the Estación de Francia Railway Station – check the schedule on the Renfe website-, it has a stop in Barcelona-Sants and in Vilanova i la Geltrú, and arrives at Tarragona after one and a half hour. The return is about seven thirty in the afternoon.

FROM THE 60ES TO THE GREAT CITY OF THE 2ND CENTURY B.C.

Since you are inside a flash-back, puto n your speed-face so that we re-enter the time machine to travel many years further back. Now, you will realize very quickly, you are in the Tarragona of maximum splendor during the domination of the Roman Empire. Once inside the Talgo you will have got information on the Roman past of the city and a proposed route to see on one day the main monuments, such as the Circus, the Amphitheater or the walls. A tour guide also usually accompanies travelers to the city.

The Tarragona Historia Viva festival will put you even more in a position. During the summer weekends, historical recreations are made in the city, taking advantage of the architectural heritage of ancient Rome and the kids end up playing in costume workshops and sports of that time.
If you do not agree with any festival event, it does not matter, Tarragona is quite exciting to live on your own for a few hours. But do not forget the train time! Tarraco Talgo is always on time!
