TARRAGONA

Be careful where you put your feet! In the forest, at night, it is difficult to walk and be oriented, and you have to pay close attention to the directions of the guide. Even more so if you are so close to a monument that hides as many legends as the el Pont del Diable, a Roman aqueduct located on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) that is also called Les Ferreres. One of the best activities to visit the whole ecohistórico are the excursions organized on full moon nights. The enigmatic light emanating from the most admired lunar phase and the stillness and silence of this environment will make you discover again a monument that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The route will take you through the nearby woods and romantic gardens of the Puig and Valls brothers. If you are attentive, you will see nocturnal birds such as the owl and the brown goatsucker, two birds difficult to see in the middle of the night. or you will hear among the trees the sounds of owl or the European kestrel. If you want ti undertake a guided tour with the children, go ahead. Just tell them to adapt the itinerary to the little ones.

FAMILY EXPEDITION TO FIND THE DEVIL

This is one of many activities that can lead to rediscovering the Pont del Diable, the Devil´s Bridge, a monument until recently forgotten in a corner of the highway. On the first Saturday of each month, at 10 o'clock in the morning, from the park´s front entrance there is also an expedition to visit the Pont del Diable as a family. In fact, they will take you to find the place where the devil of this legend of the Roman aqueduct is hiding and you will know his own version of the tale. Through family dynamics and discovery games, as well as a challenge to find animal tracks or a water game to simulate the activity of the aqueduct, children are entering the history and perceiving the natural value of this place. It is mandatory to register, because the number of visitors is limited.

KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE BRIDGE THROUGH THE WINE OF THE TARRAGONA D.O.

The Ecohistóric Park of Pont del Diable also has guided tours for adults that are made every day with different itineraries. They focus on heritage, the romantic garden and nature, but there are also activities related to the world of wine, ideal to know the products of the Tarragona DO. You should consult calendars on the Pont de Diable website.

THE GREEN LUNG SURROUNDING TARRAGONA

One day someone dreamed of joining the two rivers that flow into Tarragona, the Francolí and the Gaià, with a green walk. Fortunately this project is now a reality in the so-called Anella Verda or Anilla Verde

formed by a network of paths as old as the city: old carriage and horseshoe roads, trails that led to villages or villages ... Now these routes have been joined, prepared and signalized and form a 72-kilometer framework that runs from the Francolí River Park - where there is a great abundance of fauna and flowering to the other end of the municipality, the mouth of the Gaià river- adjacent to the Tamarit Castle.

The first section to the interior can be made by walking, strolling between Roman aqueducts, modernist domes, medieval farms or anti-pirate defense towers, as well as with the mountain bike. The return is only for pedestrian access, since you have to step on beach sand and overcome a bumpy round road, and the wheels do not help much.

You can start the Anella Verda at the Pont del Diable (Devil´s Point) of the Costa Daurada. This green lung that surrounds the city of Tarragona is also connected with public transportation - urban buses and trains - and it is a great idea to use it them to go or to return to the city. For many visitors, the Ecohistoric Pont del Diable Park is also an excellent starting point for exploring this route. Equipped with sandwiches and the canteen, follow the banners that indicate the attractions of the Anella Verda, with this map, and enjoy the ride!
