On the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast), there are dozens of feasts and festivals, most in summer and spring, but ... who says that the winter months do not deserve also great celebrations in the streets? Here you have a selection of winter parties on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast) that you cannot miss

CARNIVAL IN CUNIT

This coastal town celebrates one of the most famous carnivals in all the regions of Tarragona. Up to 50,000 people gather in the streets of Cunit to live the Carnival Parade, which has up to fifty comparsas (troupes). So if you have a group with good ideas and want to party, speed up to register. The Cunit Parade of Cunit has nothing to when compared with other carnival festivities in Catalonia. The comparsas contest is celebrated on Thursday there is a competition of choreographies among the carnival groups in the Municipal Pavilion. It is no longer enough to go well disguised: it is the moment to move the body with grace and synchronization.

XURIGUÉ CARNIVAL IN C CALAFELL

The sensibility of the Calafell carnival to please families and children is worthy of mention. "Calafell is perfect to do tomfooleries,” declared King Carnestoltes in his last appearance in the municipality. Undoubtedly, any formula of debauchery is allowed during the Carnival Parade. And also on Sunday, the children's Carnival that usually leaves at noon simultaneously from two points: from in front of Calafell beach and Plaza Cataluña. The two parades end up converging on a final party in fornt of the Joan Ortoll Pavilion.

'Cós Blanc' de Salou

Confetti, confetti and more confetti. A monumental parade of floats in the middle of an endless confetti storm is the central event of the Salou, winter festival, which is usually held on the first Saturday of February. It is the Cós Blanc of Salou, a procession of street (called cós, coso in some towns) where the verybody ends up covered with white confetti. Do you know how many kilos of confetti are spent during the Coso Blanco of Salou? Not less than 20,000! They are launched into the air with the twenty canyons that are scattered throughout the route. More than 30,000 people flock to this huge party with over 1,500 disguised individuals, about thirty gigs and live bands and DJs that make the hearts of the crowd beat with 175,000 watts of sound. The inhabitants of Salou take over the street at the time with less influx of tourists to claim the personality of the people.

FROM THE 'BAIXADA DEL PAJARITU' TO THE ‘RUA DE LUCIMIENTO´ OF TARRAGONA

The people of Tarragona  love parties. And Carnival, of course, is also part of the DNA of a city that lives in the street the "devotion" of the irreverent King Carnival. If you like spectacular street parades, Tarragona is waiting for the Artesanía Parade, with more than three troup members, who move the skeleton to the rhythm of the strappiest music. On Carnival Saturday do not miss the Baixada del Pajaritu, an andróminas race through the streets of the upper quarters of the city. Ah! And then sin, sin, with the gastronomy of Carnival. From the egg sausage to the coca de chicharrones (greaves pie).
