Morató Aragonès Archive
The Morató Aragonès Archive (AMA) was inaugurated in 2016 and has been recognised as a place of cultural interest in the Priorat region. It is the leading centre for the study of the work of the painter Josep Maria Morató Aragonès (Reus 1923 - Barcelona 2006), who was awarded the Gold Medal of the city of Reus and is an honorary citizen of the town of Cornudella de Montsant. The artist, who spent a large part of his formative years in the town of Cornudella, is one of the most outstanding representatives of Catalan figurative art in the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition hall houses the permanent collection, which presents the various phases of the painter's career, as well as temporary exhibitions that focus on different aspects of his work.
Every September, the Morató Aragonès Archive holds the event Cornudella Art i Paisatge (Cornudella Art and Landscapes), which features Jornades d’Art i Col·leccionisme (Art and Collecting Days), during which works by the painter held in private collections are made accessible to the public. Throughout the year, the Racó del petit artista (Little Artist's Corner) offers activities that children can take part in.
