Would you like to discover the most mysterious and legendary Costa Daurada? Here’s 6 places with a very particular past you can find our more about… if your dare!

We start at the north of Costa Daurada, in Marmellar, in the comarca of Baix Penedès. This is an old town deserted these days that once had around 60 inhabitants and was the scene of a double murder, which still hasn’t been solved after 30 years. Today though, the place offers a well-indicated route that will allow you to reach the highest point in the comarca, which is equipped with a picnic spot in a forest and a parking area.

We move now from Marmellar to Alcover, in Alt Camp, an area of bandits since the Middle Ages until the early 20^th century. Did you know Alcover does actually celebrate, during the first half of October, the so-called Fira de Bandolers, or bandits’ festival? Also, throughout the year, you can follow the Itinerari Bandoler, prior reservation, which will allow you to discover some of the places that were involved in such unique past.

Another trip we’d like to recommend is a visit to the old town of Prenafeta, a sort of district of Montblanc, in the comarca of Conca de Barberà, which became deserted due to the Black Death and that still has part of the old village and remains of the castle from the Middle Ages.

However, if there is a legendary place in Costa Daurada, that is Siurana, in Priorat, and its most photographed spot: the known as Salt de la Reina Mora. On this cliff, the legend says, Abdelazia, daughter of the vali of Siurana, chose to jump into the abyss with his horse before being caught by the Christian troops. Today, near the cliff you can see a deep mark of the horseshoe the animal left when trying to stop.

Pratdip, in Baix Camp, is hosting this year a decade of mysteries, legends and culture, in the beginning of November. For 3 days, the streets of this picturesque village are packed with activities for the whole family due to the Pratdip Llegendary festival: historical re-enactments, music and theatre performances, workshops for children, a craft market, a food area, animals, traditional games, fire, fear, mystery… and much more!
