BICYCLE TOURISM AND MTB Road routes
ROUTE LA MUSSARA
If you like to climb roads and mountains this route is made for you. The Costa Daurada has impressive mountains that offer you unique experiences. The start is in Salou, the tourist capital on the Costa Daurada from where you will start the ascent towards the south, to pass by Cambrils and then you will go towards the Costa Daurada inland.
From Montbrió del Camp, six kilometres from the sea, the route takes you to the interior of the Baix Camp region where fields of hazelnuts and orchards fill the municipalities of Riudoms, Les Borges del Camp, Alforja and also Vilaplana. This is the prelude to reaching the top of La Mussara, after overcoming a slope of 6.5%, one of the peaks of the mountains of Prades.
At almost a thousand metres above sea level, the view of the south of the Costa Daurada is spectacular. In fact, you will surely have been out of breath during the ascent, but don't worry because the route goes on with a continuous descent through the Natural Park of Montsant and returns to a 5% ascent at the Baix Camp to finish the route with the breeze from the Mediterranean Sea in Cambrils.

Do you want to complete your day?
Salou is the capital of the Costa Daurada. Discover it by diving into one of the nine beaches and coves with clear waters where you can snorkel and enjoy a seabed that will leave you breathless.
La Mussara receives its name from the Arab heritage and is now a small abandoned village where you will find up to eight buildings with the church of San Salvador as the most unique heritage element. The nucleus is very close to the cliff of the Airasses, where historically there was a refuge for hikers. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Camp de Tarragona.
In Riudoms they proudly display the ancestral home of Anton Gaudí, where you can learn about the roots of one of the great architects who created countless modernist works.
In Cornudella, located in the heart of the Montsant Natural Park, you can discover a modernist winery signed by Cèsar Martinell and don't forget to taste the wines produced in this small village under the umbrella of the DO Montsant.
