Following the tranquil course of the Gaià River, the woodland known as L’Albereda de Santes Creus stands out like a green oasis in the heart of the Costa Daurada. These riverside woods have been linked to the monastery since the 12th century. It is a space where the waters give life to one of the largest populations poplar trees in the south of Catalonia. Its shady banks are also home to elm, chestnut, linden and plane trees, as well as fauna that is as varied as it is fascinating.

Today, under the management of the Tarragona Provincial Government, L’Albereda is a haven of peace that can be enjoyed all year round. It is an ideal spot to experience with family, enveloped in silence and nature.

A few metres away, Santes Creus Monastery proudly displays its architectural legacy, halfway between Romanesque and Gothic. Your tour begins with the audiovisual room and an immersion in the monastery’s history. It continues among spaces full of life and memories: the recently renovated cloister, the majestic church, and the monks' dormitory. Throughout the year, the monastery programmes activities for families that open a window onto history and the discovery of heritage.

Not far away you’ll find the village of Bràfim. It is reached though a landscape of ​​vineyards that accompanies you on a unique Costa Daurada experience. The village preserves its agricultural essence and its passion for wine and is the birthplace of mellow wines and vermouths that capture the spirit of the land. An essential stop is Vermuts Padró, where aroma, flavour and tradition merge into a unique sensory experience.

To round off a great day

On the Costa Daurada you’ll find many dry-stone barraques, huts built by farmers to provide shelter for themselves and their livestock. To discover this jewel of World Heritage, Pla de Santa Maria offers you the Ruta de la Capona, an itinerary designed to show you the region’s dry-stone architecture.

Also highly recommended is the GR175 long distance footpath where it coincides with the Cistercian Monastery Route, paths you can travel on foot or by bicycle that will bring you up close to a territory full of architectural gems, natural treasures and places full of history. Stop at Tossa’l Gros to marvel at the unique natural scenery where the sea and the blue sky merge into a spectacular image.
