PRATDIP

"Once upon a time there was a village called by people of the region Prat, where some mysterious dogs appeared.

It was said that at night they went out looking for lambs, goats and people to suck blood ... It seems that the dips…have returned to Prat! "

With this fascinating legend about the most devilish wolf dogs of Catalonia you will be presented by the inhabitants of this endearing little village of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). They say that the dips disappeared sometime in the 19th century, but now they have returned the corners of the village

Do you dare to locate them? Then download the map of Pratdip from here and play with the children to find the eleven specimens that roam the streets and the roofs of the most emblematic monuments and buildings. Be alert, because if you do not find the last, he may find you first and suck all the blood.

The town of Pratdip is crowned by the visitable remains of the castle, with fantastic views over this place with reddish roofs and the Llaberia mountain range. Do not miss the public laundries and watering holes of the old village centre and the church. Notice that the dips have marked so much the life of this municipality that they have finished appearing in shield and the flag.

ON EXCUSRION THROUGH THE SIERRA DE LLABERIA MOUNTAINS

The novel 'Las historias naturales' of Juan Perucho recreates the history of the dips in scenes spread over the Llaberia mountain range. You can visit them on a unique excursion that will take you to the La Duera fountain and the hermitage of Santa Marina, where there is an altarpiece with the representation of these legendary animals. In Cuina d'en Carlos, a very recommendable restaurant where they cook juicy meats and mountain dishes, they have the key of the hermitage! If you ask for it, they will open it with great pleasure.

In less than three hours you can also walk from Pratdip to Colldejou or climb up to the top of Mola de Colldejou Summit. Do not comp’lete this with children because it is a little more difficult. If it is done at night and you see eyes that glow in the dark, run, that the list of victims is not yet closed.

A WEEKEND TO REVIVE THE LEGEND

The first weekend of November, coinciding with the All Saints' Feast, the Legendary Pratdip Festival is celebrated with a program of truly terrifying acts and celebrations. The dips hunters scare the copies of this devilish animal with music during the tour of the Medieval and Fantastic Market in the old centre of the village. There are parades, workshops for children and magic shows, all accompanied by good food that you will taste in the gastronomic corner or during the medieval lunch.

In the afternoon it is customary to recreate the legend of the dip with 'Theater of fear in the castle'. These are brief representations with light and fire on a stage, that allow knowing all real and ficticious characters that have surrounded this mythological monster. If you come in disguise, you will also be part of the legend, but do not live this role too much…There are neighbors who still explain barbarities committed by the dips not long ago. Whether you believe them or not, it's up to you.
