THE VILLA OF A HIGH LEVELCIVIL SERVANT OF THE ROMAN TARRACO

After the adventure, maybe a good rest with a walk through history. Very close to the beach of Altafulla are the remains of a Roman nucleus that was dedicated to agricultural activity and leisure. It is the Roman Villa of Els Munts, built in the first century AD, where Caius lived, a patrician who was a high official of the Roman administration, and his wife Faustina. The whole is part of the Roman Tarraco, designated World Heritage by the Unesco, and is open all year except on Mondays.

RECOVERING THE `CAMINO DE RONDA´ OF ALTAFULLA

With recently opened stretches, the `Camino de Ronda´ of Altafulla is one of the great pleasures recovered by the natives and visitors of the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). Heading towards Torredembarra, the route is made passing by rocky cliffs and beaches as beautiful as Canyadell beach. Without doubt the great impact of the `camino de ronda´ is the imposing lighthouse of Torredembarra, the highest one of Catalonia, 38 meters high. In the middle of summer, be careful walking in the sunlight, there is little shade to rest on the road.

SUNDAY FAIRS AND THE NIGHT OF THE WITCHES

The week ends on the streets of Altafulla with markets that revitalize the commerce and the atmosphere of the town. In Marqués de Tamarit avenue, the baton passes to parades dedicated to boys and girls, to art and creation, to antiques and vintage decoration, and the fair called Camp Denomination of Origin with products from these lands. You have a different themed proposal every weekend.

But the the initiative of each last weekend of June is really haunting, funny and singular. Vila Closa de Altafulla is the scene of the Night of the Witches, which lasts, in fact, two days. The cobblestone streets receive the young and old witches and sorcerers coming from the four corners of the country; when the sun goed down, the night begins to become mor magic than ever.
