Platja de Tamarit
Tamarit Beach is Tarragona’s northernmost beach, on the boundary with the neighbouring town of Altafulla. It is characterised by its proximity to the PEIN - River Gaià Area of Natural Interest, an area of high ecological and scenic value managed in conjunction with the La Sínia Environmental Association.
Its 1,700 metres of fine golden sands (with some small areas of tiny pebbles) slope gently into the warm, calm, crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. You can reach it on foot, by car or on public transport. Bear in mind, however, that the bus stops at the beginning of the footpath to Tamarit Castle and you have to walk approximately one kilometre to the beach.
Tamarit Beach offers various services, including car parking, beach bars, sunbed and parasol hire, showers, toilets, assisted bathing with an amphibious wheelchair, and facilities for various water sports.
The Blue Flag that flies over Tamarit Beach attests to the excellent quality of its sands and bathing waters, as well as the facilities it offers visitors.
