Platja de Ponent
The Ponent (West) Beach in Salou, the tourism capital of the Costa Daurada, is more than a kilometre long and runs parallel to Passeig Miramar promenade, which is also part of the resort's coastal footpath (camí de ronda). Its fine, golden sands slope gently into the crystal clear, calm waters of the Mediterranean, making it ideal for families with children.
The Ponent Beach is separated from the Llevant Beach by the marina and offers facilities for various water sports and leisure activities. They include windsurfing, hobie-cat, kayaks, ski-bus (banana), pedalos and offshore floating platforms, as well as football and volleyball pitches. The beach also has a waterway for practicing the triathlon discipline of open water swimming and an area for water walking.
The numerous services the Ponent Beach offers to visitors include access for people with reduced mobility with a ramp down to the water, a boat launching area, lifeguards, a first aid post, a children's playground and a wide range of beach bars and restaurants. It has also been awarded the ISO 14001, the Q for Beach Quality and the Safe Tourism certifications, all of which accredit its excellent health and environmental and tourist quality.
And when evening falls, the Ponent Beach concentrates a varied nightlife offer.
