L’Estany Gelat (“Frozen Pond”) Beach in Mont-roig i Miami Platja is located in a beautiful wetland protected nature reserve. It is part of the Natura 2000 Network, a European initiative that fosters the creation of a network of special protected areas. The beach is some 395 metres long and is a favourite stopping place for migratory birds.

Also known as L’Estany Salat (“Salt Pond”) Beach, it is unique on the Costa Daurada for its great natural and scenic beauty. It has been declared a protected area and the small lake that forms there is highly unusual. The most observant and curious will also find a partially hidden Spanish Civil War bunker.

Although it is some distance from any built-up areas, L’Estany Gelat Beach offers various services, including water sports, a sea lane marked out for vessels, a floating fun platform for kids, sun lounger and parasol hire, a beach bar, showers and a lifeguard and first aid post.
