Platja de la Punta del Riu
Punta del Riu Beach in Vandellòs i Hospitalet de l'Infant, in the south of the Costa Daurada, is an urban beach with fine, golden sand and shallow, calm waters. It is suitable for families with children and senior citizens.
Paralleling the beach and the sea is an attractive promenade with an area of palm trees that gives it a unique charm. A cycle lane connects it to the rest of the promenade and the urban centre of L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, as well as the wooden bridge that crosses the Llastres River, the mouth of which is listed as a protected nature reserve. This protected wetland is included in the Natura 2000 Network as it is home to a population of Iberian toothcarp, a fish in danger of extinction, as well as a rest area for several species of migratory birds.
Punta del Riu Beach also has different services, such as wooden walkways; accessible toilets; assisted bathing with amphibious wheelchairs for people with reduced mobility; beach bars that also serve excellent food; water sports and boat hire at the Club Nàutic (Yacht Club); showers and toilets; car parking, etc.
Finally, Punta del Riu Beach has various certifications, including the Blue Flag, Ecoplayas, ISO 14001 and EMAS, that testify to the excellent environmental and touristic quality of the beach, as well as the healthiness of its sand and bathing waters.
