Coma-ruga Beach, in the north of the Costa Daurada, is one of El Vendrell’s most popular beaches. Its more than two kilometres of fine white sand slope gently into the warm calm and crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean, making it a great beach for families. Along its long seafront promenade you’ll find most of the area’s tourist facilities and restaurants, as well as the marina and the local yacht club that divide the beach into two parts. The Family Planet space organises sports and recreational activities based on values such as cooperation and respect for the environment.

The beach also offers a variety of facilities and services, including car parking on the promenade, water sports equipment hire, sun lounger and parasol hire, showers, toilets, a lifeguard and first aid post, an access walkway for people with reduced mobility, and sports grounds.

However, if there is one aspect that makes Coma-ruga Beach unique on the Costa Daurada, it is the Masía Blanca Marine Reserve, a submerged area of great ecological value with an extensive posidonia (sea grass) meadow. The fauna and flora protected here are representative of more than half of the Catalan coast. During the summer season, the Department of Tourism of the City council of El Vendrell is hosting the Aula Aquàtica, an initiative that combines an informative exhibition on the marine reserve with the opportunity to go snorkelling and scuba diving.

The quality of the bathing waters on Coma-ruga Beach, which are certified by the ISO 9001:2015 (quality) and ISO 14001:2015 (environmental) standards, is also due to the L'Estany and El Riuet spring, which originates in an area of calcareous rocks in the Bonastre Massif and flows down to the beach where it emerges spontaneously. Medicinal and therapeutic properties are attributed to these waters, which maintain a constant temperature of between 18 and 21ºC all year round.

El Vendrell is categorised by the Catalan Tourism Agency as a Family Tourism destination, a designation that distinguishes holiday resorts with a certified range of accommodation, restaurants and leisure establishments designed specifically with children in mind.
