ESPLUGA DE FRANCOLÍ, L'
VIMBODÍ I POBLET

With its Mediterranean climate and 2,000 kilometres of lightly travelled roads, the

Costa Daurada is the ideal all-year-round destination for cyclists.

On this getaway you’ll discover unique historical heritage set in spectacular scenery. Starting at L’Espluga de Francolí tourist office, the 25-kilometre itinerary takes approximately 3 hours.

Pedalling along the banks of the Francolí River, we head unhurriedly towards the vineyards that surround Milmanda Castle. Owned by the well-known Torres family, this wine estate produces two Chardonnays with the Conca de Barberà designation of origin: Sons de Prades and Milmanda. Open to the public since 2000, it offers a wide range of activities, including tours, wine tasting, snacks and evening tastings.

Our route continues to the Monastery of Poblet, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. Considered the most emblematic monastery on the Cistercian Route, it is a true historical and architectural wonder that is well worth discovering. Built between the 12th and 15th centuries, it houses the pantheon of the kings and queens of Catalonia and Aragon.

Back in l'Espluga de Francolí, we end our bike route at the Museum of Rural Life. Its permanent exhibition has a wide variety of objects linked to traditional life in the towns and villages of Catalonia.

After a fascinating visit to it, you’ll know much more about Catalan traditions!
