Platja del Francàs
El Francàs Beach in El Vendrell (northern Costa Daurada) has some two kilometres of fine golden sands that slope gently into the warm calm crystalline waters of the Mediterranean. It is a very family-orientated beach thanks to it characteristics and the variety of services it offers, including sun lounger and parasol hire, beach bars, a lifeguard and first aid post, showers, toilets, and assisted bathing with an amphibious wheelchair for people with reduced mobility. El Francàs has an irregular orography and does not have many adapted accesses or a promenade.
It is located between Roda de Berà and the Marina and also has direct access from El Francàs campsite. It stands out above all for the natural treasures of the Masia Blanca marine reserve, with its highly protected ecosystem where you can go snorkelling. Just offshore there is an extensive posidonia (sea grass) meadow that gives the waters a high iodine content and makes them very transparent.
There is also a bunker built during the Spanish Civil War. It is a good lookout point and in high season the venue for different sports activities, as well as the starting point for healthy itineraries. The excellent environmental and tourist quality of El Francàs Beach is certified by the accredited ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.
El Vendrell is categorised by the Catalan Tourism Agency as a Family Tourism destination, a designation that distinguishes holiday resorts with a certified range of accommodation, restaurants and leisure establishments designed specifically with children in mind.
